This year marks 50 years of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) — a landmark law that has transformed education for students with disabilities across the nation.
But as the disability movement reminds us:
We cannot celebrate IDEA’s legacy without confronting the gaps that persist.
MiPAAC, powered by the Autism Alliance of Michigan (AAoM), is committed to advancing systems-level reforms — from funding redesign to transparent data to authentic family partnership — that are needed to fulfill IDEA’s promise for the next generation of Michigan students.
Supporting families is essential.
Changing systems is transformational.
Michigan’s students with disabilities deserve both.
The MiPAAC Special Education Advocacy Summit next week Dec. 1–3 in Lansing, will bring together families, educators, advocates, and policymakers to strategize, learn, and drive meaningful change for students with disabilities. https://mipaac.org/special-education-advocacy-summit/
